Vintage Marine Cowl Vent

This wonderful object is a cowl vent, also known as a dorade vent or air scoop. This early 20th century example maintains it’s original off white outer and deep red inner paint. As well as the aged patina, it has a brass rim and metal chain and disc which would have plugged the hole for the times went ventilation was not needed.
It stands 38.5cm tall and is shown with a small light (not included) to illuminate the inside. It could also, of course, be used as a unique and extraordinary planter.
