Large Antique (1883) Letter Opener

A large (49cm long) decorative letter opener, hand made using brass and a curled goat horn. On the brass blade reads the inscription CM 16th Dec 1883.
This is a great example of Victorian opulence and would be a wonderful display piece to accompany a large book or book collection.
Some small imperfections to the end of the blade and a hole has been made to the horn handle to attach a cord for hanging or decoration.
