This fine piece of industrial engineering and design dates from the 1950’s and was made by Midland Electric Manufacturing Co (MEM).
The three arm articulated lamp would have originally been used by an engineer on a workbench or machine such as a lathe, so of course, made to be very sturdy. This beauty was from University of Cambridge workshops, which is probably where the brilliantly complimentary base was added, making it infinitely more useable in the home.
Original industrial bluey grey patina, and the original on/off switch make this ideal industrial chic lamp for any home or workshop.
Fully articulated it can stand at 122cm high, so it could even be used as a floor lamp.
Left fundamentally in its working condition, it has the scars of life but the overall condition is good.
