Vintage Railway Destination Board. Liverpool St. Station – Thaxted
£275.00
In the early to mid 20th century, train stations would have hand painted boards such as this one, to show the line each train was taking.
This marvelous example would have been in London Liverpool Street station and shows all the stops on the way to Thaxted, Essex.
At some point, probably as the newer systems were implemented, this destination board was painted over in black. Luckily, the station names could just still be made out. With a lot of hard work and dedication each one has been uncovered, revealing the wonderful original hand painted sign. It has been sympathetically cleaned with the perfect amount of patina and character remaining.
At 151cm x 54cm this would make a simply stunning piece of wall decoration.
