Vintage Rolls Royce Box

I wish I could tell you the story of this wonderful box, but unfortunately it remains a mystery.

Measuring L43cm x W34cm x H23cm (not including hardware), once upon a time it clearly housed a specific instrument or piece of equipment. It’s been suggested a nautical or aviation  related use. Either way it was definitely made to last, with dovetail joints and heavy metal covered corners. Big metal handles either end suggest it’s been made to be carried or moved regularly, hence the signs of wear and use commensurate with age.  The Rolls Royce plaque, articulated anchor and beautiful curved clasps maybe just added for decoration and show. The heavy gauge hinges have an arrow and circle stamp which could be relevant.
